Day Seven of my “30-Days of Gratitude” journey
September 11, 2017
When you are thinking about buying adult diapers to catch the results of laughing so hard for so long with someone, you know you have a real friend. I am grateful for your can’t-stop-laughing storytelling style and I’m grateful that you somehow make the same stories more amusing each time you tell them.
I am grateful for the memories of you as a fun neighbor ready to entertain on a moment’s notice. I am grateful to you for introducing me to healthy eating even before that was an “in” thing. I am grateful to you for showing me the human connectivity in house parties. I am grateful to you for demonstrating good friend-making practices and procedures.
I am grateful to you for accepting impromptu ideas for quick getaways. I’m grateful for your willingness to get lost in the Caribbean and easily enjoy the unpredictable discoveries that are now sealed in our minds as fantasy come true. I’m grateful for your ability to adapt — on the fly and with good cheer — to new environments and cultures. I am grateful I have you to remind me of life’s best offers.
I’m grateful for your ability to reign in adversity when it really counts. If I ever get thrown in jail, I know who to call to straightened out the misunderstanding in record time. If I ever get stuck in a foreign country, I am grateful to know you’ll be my lifeline. If I become overwhelmed with emotional grief, I am grateful I can turn to you for relief.
I am grateful for all our dinners together. I am grateful for all our Saturday night phone conversations. I am grateful for all our morning coffee check-ins.
I am grateful you turn every rendez-vous into a memorable vacation with style. I am grateful you taught me through example to keep trying. I am grateful for your overarching positivity. I am grateful for your logical, methodical ability and willingness to think through challenges. I am grateful that you inspire me to see all the colors in life’s complex painting.
I am grateful for your leadership in business. I am grateful for the curiosity you have shown me by asking questions about anything you don’t understand. I am grateful for your willingness to contemplate my grand ideas without losing sight of your grand plan. I am grateful for your cultured perspective of the world and the people around you.
I am grateful for how you always treat others with respect, dignity, and warmth. I am grateful for your ability to effortlessly create networks of like-minded people. I am grateful for your example of how to positively interact with others.
Bonded for life,
