Gratitude Letter to Julia

By Carisa Carlton

Day Twenty of my “30-Days of Gratitude” journey

October 6, 2017

Dear Julia,

There’s just something about hearing your voice when I pick up the phone that makes me smile.

I am grateful that every conversation with you is one of depth and meaning. I can’t remember exactly when I met you, but I know it was in the 90s when we were both hotly single on a luxurious playground where you were a rare, authentic gem.

I am grateful for your peaceful smile. I am grateful for your comforting presence that expands to embrace others and always makes me feel safe. I am grateful for your cheer. I am grateful for your honesty. I am grateful for your radiant beauty.

I am grateful for the festivities we shared (even those I cannot recall). I am grateful for your sense of adventure and willingness to travel. I am grateful for your example of female leadership and poised professionalism.

I am grateful for the opportunity to watch you grow and evolve and discover the world with someone you love. I am grateful to know that you are being cared for. I am grateful for your example of courage to forge ahead in the midst of adversity.

Julia, I am grateful for every opportunity to spend memory-making time with you whether it’s on the phone or in person. You are a brilliant woman and I look forward to our relationship blossoming for all the years to come.

Thank you for being genuine. Thank you for being exactly as you are.

Carisa
